'A Journey through the Mechanisms of Water Recycling'
Concept Development Drawings

Orthographic Drawings

[The main brief was to design the replacement of an existing public swimming pool and leisure centre in Beachfields, Sheerness. On February 18th 2016, KentOnline news reported that a vital pipeline had burst in Sittingbourne. The line carried clean water to Sheppey from the mainland. The problem causes the island to not have access to clean water for 2 days, which forced Southern Water Company to donate at least £640,000. This established the thought of water recycling management on site. It began with researching on the mechanism of reverse osmosis, rainwater collection, and sewage water treatment.
The geometry concept of the dwelling evolve from the three category of the water recycling mechanism; first is the ‘water pods’, which house various facilities of the leisure centre. Next is the self-evident feature of the building, which is the diving tower portraying the role of 'mechanism' in the concept. Finally, the smooth and sleek roof of the pool which symbolizes the product of the mechanism. The blue copper clad is intended to reminisce the blue houses in Bluetown that hardly still exist today, and the geometry of the tower took precedent of the existing Sheerness Clock Tower.]
